During the Annual meeting of the Cognitive Science Society in Berlin, the third workshop on the Production of Referring Expression (PRE-CogSci 2013) was organized by Ellen Bard, Kees van Deemter, Albert Gatt, Roger van Gompel and Emiel Krahmer.

Language and Cognitive Processes has accepted our proposal for a special issue on "Production Of Referring Expressions: Models And Empirical Data". Guest Editors are Roger van Gompel, Emiel Krahmer, Albert Gatt, and Kees van Deemter.

In 2013, we co-organize TiGeR 2013, the Tilburg Gesture Research meeting. The meeting will contain a special theme-session on theoretical and computational models of gesture and speech production, sponsored by the Vici project.

The journal Topics in Cognitive Sciences (TopiCS) published a special issue on “The production of referring expressions: Bridging the gap between computational and empirical approaches to reference” (volume 4, number 2, april 2012). Editors for this topic are Emiel Krahmer, Roger van Gompel, Albert Gatt, and Kees van Deemter.

Following the successful workshop in Amsterdam (2009), a new workshop on reference was organized during the Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society of 2011 (Boston, MA) by Emiel Krahmer, Kees van Deemter, Albert Gatt and Roger van Gompel: Production of Referring Expressions: Bridging the gap between computational and empirical approaches to reference (PRE-CogSci 2011).

Emiel Krahmer and Mariët Theune edited the book Empirical Methods in Natural Language Generation, which appeared as a state-of-the-survey in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science Series (Vol. 5790), published by Springer.

The journal Topics in Cognitive Sciences (TopiCS) has accepted “The production of referring expressions: Bridging the gap between computational and empirical approaches to reference” as a special topic. Editors for this topic are Kees van Deemter, Albert Gatt, Roger van Gompel and Emiel Krahmer. Deadline for submissions is 1 March 2010.

Emiel Krahmer and Mariët Theune are editing the book Empirical Methods in Natural Language Generation, to appear with Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science in 2010.

During the Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society (2009, Amsterdam) Emiel Krahmer, together with Kees van Deemter, Albert Gatt and Roger van Gompel, organized the Workshop on the Production of Referring Expressions: Bridging the gap between computational and empirical approaches to reference (PRE-CogSci 2009)

Emiel Krahmer and Mariët Theune organized the 12th European workshop on Natural Language Generation (ENLG 2009).

The graph Referring Expression Generation system scored very well in the Generation Challenges 2009 (first on nearly all evaluation measures).

Emiel Krahmer and Marc Swerts editted a special issue of Language and Speech on Audiovisual Prosody (Vol 52, No 2-3, 2009)
